Tropos Networks is hosting a webinar featuring Jimmy Bagley, CIO of Rock Hill, South Carolina, on 11 December 2008 at 10:00 Pacific Time. Mr. Bagley will talk about the wireless broadband infrastructure deployed by Rock Hill to support municipal services. He will explain how various municipal departments are using the network:

  • Police - for high-speed access to information at the precinct and on the Internet from in-vehicle PCs
  • Fire – for communicating dispatch information and pre-plans while en route, saving valuable time in emergencies
  • Mobile city workers – for inspectors (building, fire, code), utilities access, customer, maps, permits, and other information in real-time, improving their efficiencies
  • AMI – for centralized monitoring of electric meters, providing fast notification of power outages and accurate reading of utility meters any time
  • Hot zones in recreational centers and parks – for community Internet access

He will also talk about how the city paid for the network and which applications they will use on the network in the future.
